A prison guard is arrested on suspicion of aiding a suspect wanted in connection with the murder of 19-year-old Benayahu Razi in Jerusalem earlier this month.

Investigators probing the case believe the female guard had an affair with the suspect’s brother, who is serving jail time at a detention facility in central Israel, according to Hebrew media reports.

Police suspect the inmate used the prison guard’s cellphone to communicate with his brother and help him evade law enforcement, the reports say.

The guard, a 34-year-old resident of Hod Hasharon, is suspected of obstructing an investigation and breach of trust, the police and Prison Service say in a joint announcement.

She is being questioned by police investigators, who will decide whether to bring her before a judge to extend her remand following the interrogation.

Police so far have arrested eight individuals in connection with Razi’s murder in Jerusalem’s Nachlaot neighborhood on July 11.

They are still searching for 17-year-old Avior Sasson, who has been on the run from law enforcement since the incident.
