Prison officer stabbed by Hamas security prisoner in Negev jail

A Palestinian security prisoner stabbed and lightly injured a prison guard this afternoon in the Hamas wing of the Negev desert Nafkah Prison, the Israel Prisons Service says.
The IPS says that the officer is being treated at the prison’s clinic, noting that “the wing is under control.”
A photo of the weapon shared by the Israel Prison Service appeared to show a small vegetable peeler.
The Palestinian Prisoner’s Media Office, a group that represents Palestinian prisoners in Israeli prisons, says in a statement that “the hero who committed the stabbing was a prisoner from Gaza,” claiming it came in response to an attack from officers.
“Israel bears full responsibility for any deterioration in the situation,” the group says.
