Report: Pentagon readying to deploy 2,000 troops to Israel for non-combat assistance
The US military has handpicked roughly 2,000 soldiers that it plans to deploy to support Israel in its war against Hamas, the Wall Street Journal reports, citing unnamed US officials.
The soldiers are not expected to serve in any combat roles, rather in advisory capacity or medical support missions, the report says. No infantry have been included on the list of soldiers compiled.
