Rocket sirens are sounding in several cities across southern Israel, as Islamic Jihad appears to be launching heavy barrages from the Gaza Strip.

The sirens sound in the cities of Sderot, Netivot, Ashkelon and many other towns close to the border with the Strip.

There are no immediate reports of injuries in the attacks.

Islamic Jihad had urged the Gaza public to stand on rooftops at 9 p.m. because there will be something to celebrate.
