Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu’s wife, Sara Netanyahu, appeals to the National Labor Court in Jerusalem over the decision to compensate her former housekeeper Menny Naftali with a sum of NIS 170,000 (about $43,735).
Two weeks ago, the court ruled in favor of Naftali, saying he had endured years of mistreatment while working at the Prime Minister’s Residence, and also ruled he had been misled over his terms of employment at the residence.
The court ruled that “numerous testimonies presented to the court point to an atmosphere of harmful work conditions at the residence due to the behavior of Mrs. Netanyahu and her attitude toward the workers. These included irrational demands, insults, humiliation and outbursts of rage.”
After studying the verdict, Sara Netanyahu’s lawyers recommended that the prime minister’s wife appeal, giving her a chance to present her own documents and witnesses regarding the affair.
Help us report truthfully on social media
As a multimedia journalist, my job is to take the quality, fact-based journalism produced by The Times of Israel newsroom and make it accessible across every platform — from Instagram posts to podcasts to short-form videos.
This is how many, especially young people, consume news these days. But misinformation is rampant on social media. Our team at ToI produces accurate, responsible short-form reporting on Israel and the Jewish world.
If you believe in the importance of factual social media journalism, please consider joining our reader support group, The Times of Israel Community. Your financial support is essential to sustain responsible multimedia reporting.
