US official indicates ceasefire efforts trump UN statement on ending fighting

Responding to a query as to whether the US will back a joint statement from the UN Security Council calling for an end to Gaza hostilities, a US official at the mission indicates that it is more concerned with ceasefire negotiations.
“Right now we are focused on the intensive diplomatic efforts underway, including those Ambassador Thomas-Greenfield discussed at today’s Security meeting,” the official tells The Times of Israel.
