A man in the central city of Rehovot died Wednesday after falling into a garbage compactor, police and medics said.

Medics who arrived at the scene declared the 67-year-old dead, the ZAKA emergency service said. Initial findings suggest that the death was the result of a work accident, according to police.

It’s not clear how the man fell in, but the Haaretz daily reported he did waste management work for the Rehovot municipality.

Police said an investigation has been opened into the incident
