A man on parole was arrested Saturday on suspicion of attacking his elder sister, a native of Tirat HaCarmel, with acid.

The 33-year-old man, also from the northern Israeli town, was caught by police Saturday afternoon in the home of friends after an hours-long search.

Police said the man was a prisoner on parole who had served a sentence for violent and other crimes.

Police suspect the man poured a corrosive substance over his 39-year-old sister’s face and body earlier Saturday following a family feud.

She was rushed to Haifa’s Rambam Medical Center in serious condition and was immediately put in intensive care to treat the multiple burns on her face and upper body.

The man immediately escaped, but was later arrested by Haifa police.
