The body of an Israeli man that was recovered from the Mediterranean Sea near the beach town of Sheikh Zuweid, close to el-Arish in northern Sinai Thursday, was delivered to Israel on Friday.

The body was taken to the Abu Kabir forensics laboratory in Tel Aviv for identification.

The independent Egyptian newspaper El Dostor Alasly reported on Thursday that NIS 430, five dollars, and an Israeli driver’s license were found on the body.

Upon discovery the body was transported to a morgue in el-Arish, and Egyptian authorities reported the incident to Israel.

The circumstances of the man’s death remain unclear.
