“Iran has a right to the use of peaceful nuclear energy,” US Secretary of State Hillary Clinton said Monday, “but Iran must abide by its international obligations and cannot be permitted to get a nuclear weapon.”

Clinton made the remarks in a press conference in Jakarta following meetings with Indonesia’s foreign minister.

She also commented on the fighting in Syria, saying that the United States was committed to “putting an end to the violence, responding to humanitarian need, and helping to facilitate a political, democratic transition that will benefit the Syrian people.”
