Airport authorities claim man tried to jump a plane for Israel due to Egypt’s political turmoil

Airport authorities in Cairo arrested a man on Sunday who was attempting to flee to Israel, the German Press Agency reported.

An airport spokesman said that a construction worker at the airport leaped over a wall separating his construction site from the tarmac. Following a short pursuit by airport police, the young man was caught under an airplane and said he wanted to escape for Israel, citing the harsh economic and social conditions in Egypt and his fear for the future following the presidential elections.

A criminal file was opened for the man and the case was transferred to the Egyptian prosecution, the news agency reported.
