Over a million Israeli children started their summer vacation on Friday.

About 900,000 elementary school students and 400,000 kindergarten rug rats left the classroom behind, reported Israel Radio, presumably to the relief of many teachers.

The kids are do back early this year, on August 27, due to countrywide changes in the academic calendar. The traditional start date for Israeli primary schools and kindergartens is September 1.
