Two border policemen were indicted on Monday on charges of beating a young Arab man in Jerusalem, then falsifying reports to their superior officers regarding the incident.

According to the indictment, which was filed by the police’s internal investigations division in Jerusalem Magistrate’s Court, the border policemen stopped the Arab man at the Lion’s Gate in the Old City in Jerusalem two years ago. They reportedly brought the man to a nearby cemetery and beat him with their rifle butts.

Afterwards, the suspects arrested the man and reported that he had attacked them.

They have been charged with aggravated assault, providing false information and obstruction of justice.
