Comic’s comic Brian Regan booked for Comedy for Koby tour

Comic Brian Regan has a suggestion for the Israeli-Palestinian conflict, and assuming US President Donald Trump doesn’t produce a peace agreement later this month, Regan will be right behind him to present his “one-dad solution” to an Israeli audience.

Regan, whose sarcastic style landed him a Comedy Central hour-long special, will visit Israel with the Comedy for Koby benefit tour starting May 25.

What the Israelis and Palestinians really need, Regan told “The Tonight Show with Jimmy Fallon” in March, “is a good dad, because a good dad can solve a problem in 30 seconds.”

“I say we send a good dad over there,” he told the audience.

“What in the hell is going on over here?” riffed Regan, playing a dad with two kids. “‘Well, he started it,’ ‘No, he started it.’ I don’t care who started it, knock it off. Why are you fighting anyway? ‘Well, this is mine,’ ‘No, it’s mine.’ How about if it was neither of yours? Would you like that? How about if I took it away from both of you? You don’t like that so much. Figure out how to share it, give each other a kiss and a hug, say you love each other, get a good night’s sleep, we’re gonna have a great day tomorrow.”

Regan is a favorite among his colleagues, a comedian’s comic, beloved by Jerry Seinfeld, Jimmy Fallon and Chris Rock, who placed him in a scene-stealing cameo in last year’s film “Top Five.” He’s also appeared in Seinfeld’s “Comedians in Cars Getting Coffee,” talking about, among other things, one of their shared jokes.

​Having a comedian of Regan’s stature is a point for pride for Comedy for Koby, said comedian Avi Liberman, who began organizing the twice-annual fundraiser in 2008 for The Koby Mandell Foundation to benefit bereaved families and victims of terror.

Liberman believes that Comedy for Koby’s hosting of American comics laid the groundwork for Israeli shows by the biggest names in American comedy, including the 2015 performance by Jerry Seinfeld and Louis C.K.’s show in August 2016, followed by Chris Rock’s upcoming January 2018 appearance.

“I take great pride in knowing that our Comedy for Koby tour has laid some of the groundwork where names like Jerry Seinfeld, Louis C.K. and now Brian Regan and Chris Rock are arriving in Israel and that they’ll be received by enthusiastic crowds,” said Liberman.

“All of the comics we have brought fall in love with the country, the people and return home with a real sense of Israel,” he said, “something which we know is just as valuable.”
