Cutlery replaces celebrity for Eyal Golan
The Mizrahi singer, who cheated on his taxes, is spending his days doing community service at an old-age home

Drive by the Jaques H. Asseoff Senior Citizens Home in the coastal town of Rishon Lezion, and you may catch a glimpse of Eyal Golan, as the tax-evading singer is working there for the next three months.
It’s part of his four months of community service for evading taxes and falsifying billing on income of NIS 2.6 million ($750,000).
Golan, who is 43, also has to pay a fine of NIS 75,000.
While the singer spends seven hours a day at the old age home, he does his work in a private room in the basement, according to celebrity follower Guy Pines, who said Golan was sorting bags of plastic forks and knives, and handling other menial tasks.
The home’s staff has been told not to bother the singer.
Pines wondered if Golan will perform for the residents. The singer, who was also accused last year of having sexual relations with an underage girl, has been trying to improve his public image, and performed concerts for free down south during the summer.
But as Pines pointed out, most of the residents probably aren’t familiar with his brand of popular Mizrahi music.
