A Jimmy Fallon bit on “The Tonight Show” with Wonder Woman actress Gal Gadot based on Cabbage Patch Kids bombed, because the Israeli actress had never heard of the ubiquitous 1980’s doll craze.
During the interview Gadot and Fallon played the game Box of Lies, in which each player takes turns describing an object to the other player, who in turn has to guess if the description is the truth or a lie.
Upon telling Gadot that the object was a Cabbage Patch doll — the popular toys that you “adopt” — Fallon was surprised to learn she had no idea what he was talking about.
“You don’t have that in Israel?” he asked. “Do you have dolls?”
“Yeah we have dolls in Israel,” she replied.
Gadot discussed with Fallon how her small town upbringing was helping her deal with the fame surrounding the movie and the giant poster in Times Square. Gadot said “it was just surreal.”
Gadot also shared how she landed the role, explaining how she did a number of camera tests and additions without knowing for what part she was trying out.
Speaking about her excitement upon learning she would play Wonder Woman after turning on her phone after a flight, Gadot dropped an F-bomb on air, before realizing her slip of tongue.
Gadot also discussed the challenges of filming while pregnant, explaining how many of the shots were filmed from up close, while in others a green triangle was placed on her stomach that the directors used to edit out her pregnant belly.
“Wonder Women” opens on Thursday, June 1, in Israeli theaters and on June 2 in the US.
