The deputy mayor of Nazareth mourns the Palestinian Islamic Jihad gunman who was shot dead during a gun battle with Israeli troops in Jenin this morning.

In a now-deleted Facebook post, Samir Saadi said Ahmed Saadi was a “martyr.” According to the Kan public broadcaster, the two are relatives.

After the post was picked up by Hebrew-language media, and received harsh criticism from right-wing lawmakers, the post was deleted.
