Former IDF military intelligence chief Amos Yadlin tells Channel 12 he believes this will prove to be a “lengthy” confrontation.

He anticipates that Islamic Jihad “will respond” by striking at Israel “when they’ve emerged from their shock.”

He urges Israelis to “unite” behind the political and military leadership, who he says has surprised Islamic Jihad with the opening airstrikes and “have hit it hard.”

“The prime minister [Yair Lapid] may not be experienced, but he has a good team, and he and the alternate prime minister [Naftali Bennett] are doing good work… We should put politics aside until this is over,” Yadlin adds.
