Fatah, the party ruling over the West Bank, distances itself from statements made Saturday by a member of its Central Committee to Hezbollah-affiliated Al-Mayadeen TV.

In an interview with the Lebanese channel, Fatah’s Abbas Zaki thanked the armed wings of Hamas and the Palestinian Islamic Jihad, responsible for the October 7 onslaught on Israel in which 1,300 were killed, saying that they “know how to obtain the lifting of the blockade [on Gaza] and the withdrawal of the occupation from the West Bank.”

The official Wafa news agency quotes an unnamed Fatah official as saying that “Abbas Zaki only represents himself, and does not express the position of the Fatah movement or the policy of the Palestine Liberation Organization.”
