Finance Minister Avigdor Liberman and Economy Minister Orna Barbivay issue a public appeal to producers and importers of food and other basic products not to raise prices.
In recent weeks a range of companies have announced price hikes on their products, including Osem, and the importer Diplomat, which sells products including Starkist tuna, Pringles, and Heinz ketchup.
“We will not hesitate to take the necessary steps to ensure a competitive and fair economy,” says Liberman. “I expect companies at this time to reconsider and avoid cynical price increases that will harm the citizens of the country.”
