Gantz says Iran ‘only around 10 weeks away’ from weapons-grade nuclear material

Iran is “only around 10 weeks away from acquiring weapons-grade materials necessary for a nuclear weapon,” says Defense Minister Benny Gantz in a briefing on Iran to ambassadors from countries on the UN Security Council.

“It is time for deeds — words are not enough. It is time for diplomatic, economic and even military deeds,” he says.

Indirect talks in Vienna between Iran and the US on rejoining the 2015 JCPOA nuclear deal have been suspended until incoming president Ebrahim Raisi takes office tomorrow.

Iran has been openly progressing in its nuclear program since the Trump administration withdrew from the deal and imposed crippling sanctions.
