Hamas says that an AFP report it has frozen hostage-truce talks is false, according to an official statement by the terror group quoted by Hebrew media outlets.

“One of the goals of the escalation against our nation by [Prime Minister Benjamin] Netanyahu and his government is to block the road to an agreement that stops the aggression against our people, and this is clear to everyone,” the statement reads.

Mediated hostage-truce talks between Israel and Hamas are set to resume in Doha this week, the Qatari New Arab news outlet reports, citing unnamed sources involved in the efforts.

The report comes shortly after a Hamas official claimed that they were withdrawing from the talks, claiming Israel was not serious about reaching a deal.
