Indonesia says that all Board of Peace discussions “are on hold” because of the Israel-US war with Iran.
US President Donald Trump’s Board of Peace, created out of the ceasefire he brokered last year in Gaza, held its inaugural meeting in February in Washington.
Indonesia’s President Prabowo Subianto was at that meeting.
“All BoP discussions are on hold as all attention has shifted to the situation in Iran,” says Foreign Minister Sugiono after a dinner with Subianto.
“We will also consult with our friends and colleagues in the Gulf because they are also under attack,” he says.
Indonesia is one of the few countries that has said it would send troops to the nascent International Stabilization Force in Gaza.
The Indonesian Ulema Council, the Islamic scholars’ body, called on the country to leave the board in the wake of the strikes on Iran.
