Justice minister: ‘International pressure shouldn’t affect our activities’

International pressure “shouldn’t affect our activities,” Justice Minister Tzipi Livni says.

“In any case we act according to our own morals and international law,” says Livni, who is a member of the security cabinet guiding the IDF operation.

“There is a group in the world that will judge us prejudicially no matter what we do. The rest of the world we have to deal with,” she adds in a Channel 2 interview.

“Look, the situation in Gaza isn’t good. There are people in Gaza who are dying who are not involved in the fighting. We have to deal with that. But there’s something that really isn’t acceptable to me: the comparison between a soldier trying to hit a terrorist who is aiming at civilians and the terrorist who is targeting the civilian. [Making that comparison] encourages and abets terror. This distinction is very, very important.

“When we fail to hit a terrorist and hit civilians, we investigate what went wrong. They investigate when they fail to hit civilians.”
