Local leader says he tried to warn about danger at synagogue

Dedi Simchi of the fire and rescue service tells Channel 12 news that the Givat Ze’ev synagogue at which a bleacher collapsed was still under construction and did not have an occupancy permit.

The head of the Givat Ze’ev local council says that officials warned about the dangers, but that police declined to take responsibility.

“We ended up putting up signs that there was danger and that from the council’s view, there could not be any events held there. Unfortunately, we did not get help from the police,” Yossi Avrahami tells the press.
