Police say they arrested a man suspected of opening fire on his family members in Rahat tonight, killing a 17-year-old boy and a 30-year-old man, and injuring three others.

The suspected assailant, a man in his 30s, was apparently spurred on by a romantic dispute between him and his cousins, police say. Police who searched the family’s home seized a handgun, which they suspect was used in the shooting.

He was arrested by officers from the city’s police station and fighters from the Sahar unit, established to crack down on Arab sector crime in southern Israel.
