Man shot and killed in southern Bedouin town of Lakiya

A man has been shot and killed in Lakiya, a Bedouin town in southern Israel.

The deceased is identified in Arabic-language outlets as Osama Abu Obaid, a resident of the Negev village.

His killing marks the 52nd homicide death to rock Arab society since the beginning of the year, as violent crime rages unabated in the community.

Police say the victim was rushed to a hospital in critical condition by paramedics, but succumbed to his wounds.

Officers are currently present at the scene of the shooting and have launched an investigation. No arrests have been reported in connection to the crime.
