Man’s body found in Italy near where Israeli disappeared — ministry

Israel’s Foreign Ministry says a man’s body has been found in Italy, in the area where an Israeli sailor went missing earlier this month.

The ministry says a DNA test will be conducted to verify whether it is indeed the body of a 60-year-old Israeli man who has been missing since October 10 after disembarking from his yacht on the Italian island of Capri.

The Israeli man took part in a yacht trip to the islands off Italy’s western coastline, boarded a rubber dinghy to the island of Capri and disappeared.

The ministry, along with Israel’s deputy ambassador to Italy Ofra Farhi and Israeli insurance company The Phoenix, have been helping in the two-week search operation on the coast using choppers, planes and drones, as well as sonar equipment and divers.
