The mother of the 13-year-old Israeli girl murdered by a Palestinian terrorist pays tribute to her daughter, who she says was a “happy girl.”
“My daughter was sleeping, peacefully, calmly, a happy girl,” says Rina Ariel, according to the Srugim website. “A murderous terrorist came to her bed, inside Kiryat Arba, and killed her.”
Hallel Yaffa Ariel was stabbed to death earlier today by a Palestinian terrorist who broke into her room and attacked her as she slept.
“I’m a mother, I am small, I don’t say anything,” Rina Ariel says. “I’m only asking that everyone will see the pain, come to offer comfort, come to strengthen, come to say that Kiryat Arba is ours, a place where we can live and not perish, and sustain our love of the place and of Israel. May Hallel rest in peace.”

Responsibly covering this tumultuous time
As The Times of Israel’s political correspondent, I spend my days in the Knesset trenches, speaking with politicians and advisers to understand their plans, goals and motivations.
I'm proud of our coverage of this government's plans to overhaul the judiciary, including the political and social discontent that underpins the proposed changes and the intense public backlash against the shakeup.
Your support through The Times of Israel Community helps us continue to keep readers across the world properly informed during this tumultuous time. Have you appreciated our coverage in past months? If so, please join the ToI Community today.
