Mutual hatred of Hamas aligns Arab world, Israel
Add ToI as a Preferred Source on GoogleAn article in the New York Times points to a change in the tune of Arab leaders, in that their withering criticism of Hamas seems to override their age-old opposition to Israel.
The paper quotes analyst Aaron David Miller, who formerly served as a Middle East negotiator under several presidents: “The Arab states’ loathing and fear of political Islam is so strong that it outweighs their allergy to Benjamin Netanyahu,” he says.
“I have never seen a situation like it, where you have so many Arab states acquiescing in the death and destruction in Gaza and the pummeling of Hamas,” he says. “The silence is deafening.”
