In his latest inflammatory post, Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu’s son Yair makes a baseless suggestion that the Israeli left is behind today’s raging fires.
“Something here is suspicious,” he writes on X. “The Kaplanist left has been frantically trying in recent weeks to cancel Independence Day celebrations and the torch-lighting ceremony.”
He is referring to anti-government demonstrators, who have often protest in Tel Aviv’s Kaplan Street.
“I really hope the arson was only carried out by Arabs, without any collaboration from our own people,” he says.
The cause of the fires is not clear at this time, though it has been suggested some could have been a result of arson, while one East Jerusalem resident was arrested today on suspicion of attempted arson.
