Palestinian Authority President Mahmoud Abbas speaks with US President Joe Biden.

According to the state-run Palestinian news agency WAFA, Abbas declares “the necessity of stopping all attacks and respecting international humanitarian law” in Gaza.

Abbas also calls for allowing “humanitarian corridors” from Gaza to deliver water, electricity, fuel and medical supplies.

It is the first call between the two since the war started last Saturday with Hamas’s brutal onslaught against southern Israel.

There is no immediate readout of the call from Biden’s office.
