Poland’s foreign ministry says the Polish ambassador to Israel, Marek Magierowski, will remain in Warsaw for the time being and that his newly appointed deputy will not be dispatched to Tel Aviv.

The move comes after Israel recalled its charge d’affairs over Poland’s approval of a law that effectively bars heirs to property seized by the Nazis during the Holocaust from seeking restitution. Israel also told Magierowski to remain on vacation at home.
