Police have arrested a man on suspicion of murder nearly two years after the sudden death of his ex-girlfriend, who died after drinking rust remover in his home.
Holon resident Ofir Ben David was detained and interrogated on suspicion of negligence soon after the death of his former partner, Hila Malka Or Lahav, in May 2024. He was eventually released.
Ben David and his defense attorney claim she consumed it by mistake, after it was left on the kitchen counter in a soda bottle.
The pair had separated just two months before her death. Now, police have arrested Ben David a second time after new evidence emerged in the investigation.
He was brought to the Rishon Lezion Magistrate’s Court this morning, where a judge ordered him to five more days of detention, Ynet reports.
