Ra’am chief Abbas calls for calming ethnic violence
Ra’am chief Mansour Abbas, whose Islamist party emerged as a potential kingmaker after the March 23 elections, calls on all Israelis to temper the ethnic tensions roiling the country.
In an interview with Channel 12 news, Abbas says he hopes the current fighting in the Gaza Strip between Israel and the Hamas terror group will end in the next 48 hours. Israel’s Jews and Arabs will then need to engage in soul-searching, he says.
He also says he was just in Jaffa, where he notes an Arab boy was seriously hurt when a Molotov cocktail was thrown into his home. He says a fire bomb was also thrown into another home there rented by Jews.
Abbas says Jews and Arabs have to sit together and heal relations.
