Washington held ‘preliminary’ talks on potential Iran strike, Wall Street Journal reports

The Trump administration has held “preliminary discussions” on plans for a potential attack on Iran, The Wall Street Journal reports, after US President Donald Trump’s repeated threats to strike the Islamic Republic should the regime kill protesters — which it is reported to have done.

Citing unnamed sources, the Journal reports that the discussions have focused on which sites, if any, should be targeted. It says one option on the table is to launch a “large-scale aerial strike” against Iranian military targets.

It notes, however, that there is no indication of an “imminent attack” on Iran, and no equipment or personnel have been moved.
