The Tel Aviv Museum of Art is taking sculptures outside the museum in “Out of the Cube,” a short-term group exhibit from July 17-28, placed in and around the city of Tel Aviv.

The sculptures are being placed around the city, from Levinsky Market and Bialik Square to Nachalat Binyamin and Park Hayarkon, and many other neighborhoods in between.

The artists, curated by Ventilator—a nomadic exhibition space founded by artist Ishai Shapira Kalter — are creating artworks inspired by their own surroundings and habitats, whether it be their living quarters, a nearby rooftop or hotel lobby, a balcony or in a backyard, in a public space or next to existing artworks.

It’s a roving exhibit, supported by the Bruce and Ruth Rappaport Foundation, that extends the physical borders of the museum, allowing urban residents and wanderers to notice and respond to the works of art and the reactions that the sculptures invite from the environment around them.

The participating artists are Bella Brisel, Tal Engelstein, Freedom Research Institute, Lenny Gaunt, Yonatan Geron, Omer Halperin, Abigail Hopkins, Shahar Kramer, Sigalit Landau, Elad Larom, Amit Levinger, Michal Makaresco, Shir Moran, Efrat Natan, Roman Nefeli, Chaya Ruckin Brekman, Noa Schwartz, Ira Shalit, Shiri Tarko, Maxim Turbo, Ana Wild, Oded Yaacov and Oded Yonas.
