Graffiti of a swastika was found on a door in the Muslim Quarter of Jerusalem’s Old City early Sunday, police said.
Written next to the swastika in Hebrew were the words “death to Jews” and “Hamas.”
Police said an investigation had been opened.
The graffiti was later cleaned off the door by the Jerusalem municipality.
The Old City, and especially the Muslim Quarter, is frequently the site of tensions between Arabs and Jews, as its Temple Mount compound is a central point of friction in the Israeli-Palestinian conflict.

In January, police arrested four residents of the Old City for spray-painting graffiti praising a terrorist who killed for IDF soldiers in a truck-ramming attack in the capital.
The Old City has seen a rash of attacks in recent years, including in July when three Arab Israelis shot dead two police officers at the Temple Mount using weapons smuggled into the compound.
