US Donald Trump says the conflict with Iran “will be over with soon” in a speech at a rally in Suffern, New York.

“We have stopped them,” Trump says. “They are never going to have a nuclear weapon. And will have that over with soon. It will be over with soon.”

Progress has been made on some disputes with the US, but an agreement will only be signed when all issues are resolved, a source close to Iran’s negotiating team tells the semi-official Tasnim news agency.

The source tells Tasnim that talks are ongoing, with the focus currently on securing an end to the war, before other matters are dealt with.

The ceasefire declared by Trump last month came with core declared goals of the war, which was launched on February 28, unfulfilled, including ensuring that Iran does not attain nuclear weapons, destroying its missile program, and creating the conditions for the Iranian public to overthrow the regime.
