Delegates join Israeli colleagues in discussion of academia-industry collaboration

Ben-Gurion University of the Negev held an international roundtable attended by delegates from Brazil, the UK, China and the Netherlands to discuss best practices for teaching and integrating innovation into an academic setting.
BGU’s Bengis Center for Entrepreneurship & Innovation of the Guilford Glazer Faculty of Business and Management held its first International Bengis Roundtable on Thursday. Attendees and speakers discussed how to teach innovation and entrepreneurship and how to maximize academic-industry collaborations.
Francisco Carvalho de Arruda Coelho, the vice secretary of Science, Technology and Higher Education, State Government of Ceara in Brazil, attended the session with his own delegation, BGU said in a statement.
At the event, Prof. Linda Scott, Emeritus DP World Chair for Entrepreneurship and Innovation, University of Oxford, spoke about how multinational corporations meet the global challenge of enabling female entrepreneurs. Prof. Marcos Costa Holanda, president of Banco do Nordeste (the Bank of Northeast of Brazil-BNB), a development bank established by Brazil to support the economic development of the nine states of the northeast region of Brazil, spoke about the role of development banks in supporting innovation.
Prof. Dr. Li Zheng, the founding director of the China-Israel Center for Entrepreneurship and Innovation at Jilin University, and Prof. Yang Song discussed the activities being conducted as part of the framework of the joint entrepreneurship and innovation center that was established recently with BGU.
