Police detain alleged Palestinian firebombing cell

Israeli authorities have detained members of an alleged terror cell responsible for a string of West Bank firebombing and stone-throwing attacks in recent months.
The men, who are from the West Bank village of Beita, southwest of Nablus, are suspected of throwing Molotov cocktails from their vehicle at a passing Israeli vehicle on Route 60 in June, among other attacks, the Shin Bet announced Monday.
The vehicle allegedly used during the June attack has been found, and police were seeking to have it confiscated. Indictments against the suspects are set to be filed in the coming days at a West Bank military court.
During the investigation, carried out jointly by the Shin Bet security forces, the Israel Police and the Israel Defense Forces, the alleged cell members admitted to carrying out multiple firebombing and stone-throwing attacks in the West Bank against Israeli vehicles and the IDF.
Two of the prominent cell members, aged 21 and 19, were previously involved in similar incidents, the Shin Bet said.
On Sunday, nine Palestinian suspects were indicted on charges of hurling Molotov cocktails at a vehicle near the Beit Hanina neighborhood in northeast Jerusalem earlier this month, wounding three Israelis.
They are also suspected of throwing firebombs on several occasions at a Jewish-owned building in Beit Hanina, the court said. No injuries were reported in those attacks.
