Police suspect foul play may have been a factor in the death of a 74-year-old woman in Beersheba Tuesday afternoon.
The woman’s daughter called the police after reportedly finding her dead at home.
The police said there was bruising and signs of violence on the body, making them suspicious of foul play. There were no immediate suspects and an investigation was opened.
A number of assaults against senior citizens, including Holocaust survivors, occurred over the past week.
Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu and other politicians promised to deal with the violence, and Police Commissioner Yohanan Danino said he’d use all the tools at his disposal to end the phenomenon.
