Construction worker finds charred corpse in southern Israeli city

A young security guard allegedly shot and killed his 31-year-old wife and  a man in his fifties, who he thought was her lover, in the southern city of Beersheba on Thursday evening.

Yevgeni Begetz, the 21-year-old suspect, reportedly called the police following the incident.

The victims were gunned down on Masada Street, near the Soroka Medical Center. Magen David Adom paramedics rushed them to the hospital, where they were pronounced dead.

Police arrested Begetz and are investigating the circumstances of the incident. The Haifa Magistrates Court on Friday extended his remand by 14 days.

In the Old City area of Beersheba, a construction worker discovered on Friday a charred human corpse in a building that was destroyed by arson in late November. Authorities suspect that the deceased was a homeless person who was using the site for shelter.

Police have opened an investigation into the incident.
