2 pedestrians killed in separate car accidents in central Israel

89-year-old woman in Holon and woman in her 30s in Tel Aviv die of injuries, bringing number of pedestrians killed in 2021 to 45

Two pedestrians were killed in car accidents in central Israel on Monday.

In Holon, an 89-year-woman was struck by a car on Monday evening. She was rushed to the Wolfson Medical Center, where doctors pronounced her dead.

Earlier on Monday, a woman in her 30s was hit by a bus in Tel Aviv. Medics pronounced her dead at the scene.

Police are investigating both accidents. The bus driver in the Tel Aviv crash was detained for questioning.

Neither victim was immediately identified.

The National Road Safety Authority on Monday said 45 pedestrians have been killed in car accidents since the beginning of 2021.

The latest fatal traffic accidents followed a deadly weekend of crashes, with at least five people killed on Friday night and Saturday.
