A senior Fatah official said that God will assemble Jews to be killed by Palestinians, a Palestinian media watchdog reported Thursday.
Abbas Zaki, a member of Fatah’s Central Committee and Mahmoud Abbas’s commissioner for dialogue with the Arab World and China, told Palestinian TV on Wednesday that Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu is trying to improve his image in the Israeli public after having failed to resolve the Iranian nuclear issue.
“These Israelis have no religion and no principles, they are an advanced instrument of evil.” Zaki told Palestinian TV, according to Palestinian Media Watch. “I believe that God will gather them so we can kill them.”
Zaki ended with a phrase attributed to the Prophet Muhammad: “I am informing the murderer of his death.”
This was hardly Zaki’s first inflammatory statement. In 2011, he called Netanyahu and US President Barack Obama “scumbags,” saying that the eventual Palestinian goal of annihilating Israel must be carried out gradually. In 2009 Zaki told Lebanese TV that the two-state solution will lead to the collapse of Israel.
Most recently, Zaki served as Palestinian emissary to Syria, where he unsuccessfully tried to intercede with the Assad regime to end the siege of the Yarmouk refugee camp outside Damascus, where thousands of Palestinians have reportedly lost their lives since July 2013.
