Please join us this Wednesday, October 21, for a special Behind the Headlines interview, exclusively for the ToI Community.
This week’s guest is Liraz Charhi, star of the hit series “Tehran,” now available internationally on Apple TV+.
The Israeli actress, singer, and dancer will discuss her acting career, music projects, and the influence her Iranian heritage has on both her life and creative endeavors.
Charhi is best known for her role as Mossad spy Yael Kadosh in the Israeli hit series “Tehran,” and as Jewish Indian immigrant Sara in the 2004 film “Turn Left at the End of the World.”
She’s also made headlines recently for her latest project, a studio album painstakingly assembled through covert collaborations with Iranian artists. Charhi said in another recent interview that she had feared for the lives of those who worked with her in Iran, a bitter foe of her native country, that passed a law earlier this year making it illegal to cooperate with the Jewish state.
That didn’t stop Charhi and a number of Iranian musicians from achieving her lifelong dream of recording with artists from her parents’ home country. The new album, which will be released in November, is entitled “Zan,” which means “women” in Farsi.
Charhi will speak with Miriam Herschlag, The Times of Israel’s Opinion & Blogs Editor.
The discussion will air on YouTube on Wednesday, October 21, at 8 p.m. in Israel, 1 p.m. EDT. A recording will be available after this time at the same link.
