Lebanese fashion designer Elie Saab has been criticized on social media for sharing a photo of Israeli actress Gal Gadot in a dress he designed.

Saab posted the photo of Gadot at the National Board of Review Awards in New York Tuesday, calling her “flawless” on Instagram.

Many Lebanese were unhappy with Saab’s praise of the Israeli star of “Wonder Woman,” a former Israel Defense Forces soldier, and made their opinions known.

Journalist Heba Bitar wrote: “I love and respect Elie Saab, but is he really happy an Israeli actress wore a dress he designed?”

Gadot’s photo has since been removed.

“Wonder Woman” screenings were banned in Lebanon following a campaign against its star’s Israeli background.

The ban was in accordance with a decades-old law that boycotts Israeli products and bars Lebanese citizens from traveling to Israel or having contacts with Israelis.
