6-year-old boy said killed by Israeli gunfire in Gaza City; no immediate comment from IDF

Hamas-linked health officials in Gaza say a 6-year-old boy was killed by Israeli gunfire in the Zeitoun neighborhood of Gaza City.

Earlier today, a 10-year-old child was among four people killed in a strike on a tent for displaced people in the Mawasi area in Khan Younis.

The IDF has not commented on either incident.

The IDF did comment on a different strike in Gaza City in which one person was reportedly killed near a school-turned-shelter. The IDF says it targeted terror operatives, but was unaware of any casualties.

Also on Wednesday, the IDF opened fire on a Palestinian aid truck driver in the Mawasi area of Rafah in southern Gaza, killing a man later identified as Ahmad Esleem.

The IDF says in a subsequent statement that troops had identified three truck drivers who had stopped on the side of the road along the Philadelphi Corridor in violation of procedures. The forces operating in the area detained the drivers for questioning.

At the same time, the driver of another truck — a fourth one — that had stopped at a nearby checkpoint ran toward the troops, the IDF claims.

The forces initiated a suspect arrest procedure, during which they perceived an immediate threat and opened fire at him,” the army says, before admitting that an investigation has been launched into the incident.

The IDF further says that the driver was wounded and given initial treatment by troops at the scene before being transferred to Red Cross medics who pronounced his death.
