Airstrike kills two armed terror operatives approaching Israeli border from Lebanon

Overnight, IDF surveillance operators identified two armed terror operatives approaching the northern border from the direction of the southern Lebanese village of Yaroun, the IDF says.

The suspects were spotted some 300 to 500 meters (328 to 546 yards) from the border and were tracked continuously as they hid beneath a tree.

Local security squads in the nearby communities of Dovev, Matat and Baram were dispatched to their communities’ entrances during the incident.

Within minutes, an Israeli Air Force fighter jet struck the suspects under the direction of forces on the ground. After movement was detected in the area following the initial strike, the pair was targeted again and killed.

Troops did not return to routine until forces visually confirmed the bodies, which occurred at around 5 a.m., some two hours after the pair was spotted. No additional suspects were found in the area, the military says.
