Bail denied for Palestinian teen who slapped Israeli soldiers in provocation

A 16-year-old Palestinian girl facing assault charges for slapping an IDF soldier in the West Bank last month is denied bail, and will remain behind bars until the legal proceedings against her are over.

The decision is handed down by the Ofer Military Prison near the Palestinian city of Ramallah.

International human rights groups have criticized Israel for detaining the teenager over the December 15 encounter in Nabi Saleh.
